- This week we’re going to continue with the Creed and look at Baptism and what it means
- Our featured resource will help form your catechumens to live the baptism they’re preparing for
- And in the Q&A segment, Nick and Diana will answer a question on how to deal with candidates who are reluctant to celebrate the sacrament of penance
I would like to respond to the viewer who is having a problem with candidates being reluctant to receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
First of all, I would never have them receive the Sacrament in a group setting for the first time. I always give them the choice to make an appointment with one of our parish priests to receive the sacrament. Both of our priests are aware that we will be doing this and are very good at guiding them through the reception of the sacrament. If they would be reluctant, I would have them just make an appointment with one of the priests to talk about it. It’s much better coming from them than from me. Our pastor is very open and wants to build a personal relationship with all of the catechumens and candidates. This helps when it comes time for them to actually participate in any of the Rites.
Hope this is helpful.
