  1. Attended the Convocation in Cleveland… something new to put in my cap and reflect on came out of the Convocation: apprentiship. The RCIA is an apprentiship. They need to learn through doing. We need to get the catechumens and candidates connected to what our community is doing when they “do” faith: have them go with a Eucharistic Minister when they take communion to a shut in; or have them go with parishioners as they prepare meals for the homeless or help build a home for Habitat for Humanity. The more we involved them, the more they will stay involved because they will come to know us and see that being Catholic is faith in action as well as faith at Mass and in prayer.
Great concept, because wwhat we are really talking about is discipleship.

The Convocation, after 30 years in the RCIA left me again with more food for thought, and more ideas for strengthing the RCIA in our parish community.
