RCIA RESOURCE EARNS TOP HONORS FROM CATHOLIC PRESS ASSOCIATION
[San José, CA] – June 3, 2009- The Way of Faith: A Field Guide for the RCIA Process, written by Nick Wagner, received a First-Place Award from the Catholic Press Association in the Pastoral Ministry category. The award was given May 29 at the CPA’s annual convention, held this year in Anaheim, CA.
“I am honored to be recognized by the Catholic Press Association for The Way of Faith,” said author Nick Wagner. “It is an affirmation that, 30 years after the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults first appeared, parishes are still actively seeking effective resources for starting or sustaining the catechumenate in their communities.”
Using the RCIA itself as a model, The Way of Faith provides readers with an easy-to-follow process for starting or sustaining a parish-wide catechumenate in any community, no matter how large or small.
Wagner also developed an online companion resource to The Way of Faith: TeamRCIA.com. “The goal of TeamRCIA.com,” said Wagner, “is to pick up where the book leaves off, providing ongoing support to parish teams as they embark on the central ministry of the church to go and baptize.”
“For 20 years I have been searching for a resource that was concise, logical, and informative regarding the entire RCIA process,” said Douglas J. Reatini, director of the office of worship in the Saint Petersburg diocese. “By using the Rite, other church documents, his own personal experience, and a bit of humor, Nick Wagner has developed a step-by-step guide that will help those who are new to this ministry as well as 20-year veterans.”
The Way of Faith is published by Twenty-Third Publications. CEO Bret Thomas said, “Nick has the knowledge and experience to produce a genuine Twenty-Third resource: hands-on, practical, and ready-to-use for people in the parish. This is the kind of product we are most proud of, and in this case, it’s definitely needed. It’s a comprehensive, enjoyable, and affordable guide to everything a parish wants or needs to know about the catechumenate process. Great going, Nick!”
Nick Wagner is the editor of Today’s Parish Minister and Religion Teacher’s Journal, also published by Twenty-Third Publications. He has more than 25 years experience as a leader and trainer in liturgical and catechetical ministries. He is the author of seven other books on parish ministry including Whole Community Liturgy: A Guide for Parish Leaders and Lay Ministers, also published by Twenty-Third Publications. He is a sought-after speaker and an active team member with the North American Forum on the Catechumenate.
