Every RCIA ritual has a "secret sauce." You can find it in the pastoral introduction to each individual rite. The introduction to the Acceptance into the Order of Catechumens, for example, provides a clear theology of the rite along with specific instructions for its celebration. The introduction describes the central symbols of the ritual and the roles of the various ministers. It also provides an overview of possible adaptations the rite allows for.

Yet, as helpful as this introduction is, many RCIA team members have never read it.
