Catechesis for All Souls Day

Posted by Nick

The Year of Saint Paul

Reading II

Rom 5:5-11

But God proves his love for us
in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.

The way of faith

  • Our salvation flows from God’s initiative of love for us, because “he loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins.” Jesus freely offered himself for our salvation. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 620-21)
  • Justification includes remission of sins, sanctification, and the renewal of the inner person. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2019)
  • To the benefit of everyone, Jesus Christ has tasted death. It is truly the Son of God made human who died and was buried. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 629)

To see how you might use one of these three points in your catechesis, see “How to lead a 90-minute catechetical session.”
