Catechesis for 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Year of Saint Paul

Reading II

Philippians 2:1-11

Brothers and sisters…
Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory;
rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves….

The way of faith

  • “The universal Church is ‘a people brought into unity from the unity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.’” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 810)
  • Praying to our Father should develop in us the will to become like him and foster in us a humble and trusting heart. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2800)
  • The second commandment enjoins respect for the Lord’s name. The name of the Lord is holy. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2161)

To see how you might use one of these three points in your catechesis, see “How to lead a 90-minute catechetical session.”
