RCIA team training this fall

Posted by Nick

They are their own Saturday morning cartoonThe North American Forum on the Catechumenate is providing an excellent training opportunity for you and your RCIA team this fall. Their fifth international convocation, titled “Handing On What We Have Received from the Lord,” will be held in Cleveland, Ohio, on November 6-8, 2008. The conference planners promise that participants will:

  • rediscover the church’s identity as an apprenticing community that hands on its faith to others
  • explore the substance of the faith we hand on, which is nothing less than the community’s living and transforming relationship with Jesus Christ
  • experience the ancient and ever new role of liturgical catechesis in making Christians and in remaking them through the cycle of the Church’s year
  • be renewed for initiation ministry by celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and the 25th anniversary of Forum

And it gets better. Right now the Forum is offering scholarships for pastoral ministers. However, funds are limited, and the scholarships are avaible first-come-first-served. The deadline to apply is September 30.

Note that I’ll be presenting a workshop on “How to Get the Whole Parish Community on Your Formation Team.” And TeamRCIA members Diana Macalintal and Miriam Malone, SNJM, will be leading roundtable dialogues.

We hope to see you there!
